The Monticello Karting Track



My brother-in-law and a childhood friend of the Turner brother's share the same birthday. So this past Saturday was spent celebrating the guys turning the big 3-OH at the Monticello Karting Track! We had a group of 10 or so make the hour drive out for a fun day of riding and racing.

 The racing track in Monticello has been deemed the #8th best track in the world! There are so many twists and turns, and these karts register speeds at 50+ mph. Our crew averaged a speed of 40-45 mph. The track is just over a mile in length, and the group was given 10 laps around the entire track upon completion of the initial 20 laps used for the "driving school" portion on the short track.

The pricing is pretty reasonable for the session our group went with. Each person paid $70 which included; 30 laps (20 on the short track, 10 on the big track), safety driving class (this is mandatory for first time riders of the track), and racing gear (helmet, jacket, neck brace, and gloves). We spent well over three hours at the place. It was definitely worth the price, and money well spent. Everyone had a blast!

Kaylee wasn't allowed to ride on the track with the adults. The owner promised to let her drive a lap around the short track if the group scheduled after us didn't make it by the time our group finished. Unfortunately, the second group was there waiting as we were finishing. She was bummed, but K and I promised to bring her out again with a friend so they can ride around the track together, and that appeased her. Instead of being able to ride, she tried on some of the racing gear, and we sat in the stands watching our group race one another and wipeout around the corners!

Once the everyone finished racing, we were able to go take a look in the "showroom" at the cars and memorabilia. The guys loved it; they were pretty much in heaven. Each were plotting ways they could all pitch in and buy one of the cars in the showroom!

If you happen to be in the North Florida area, and are looking for something fun to do, I would highly recommend hitting up the Monticello Karting Track! Everyone really enjoyed it, and talked about it the rest of the afternoon. I know if I would have been able to ride, I would have loved it just as much. I'm already planning my trip out to the track after baby comes!

 



26 Years... Young

Cheers to 26 years of life!

 

 

Here's a quick recap of my past year...

• The year kicked off with K planning a surprise party with my family and closest friends in attendance

• K and I bought and officially own 5 acres of land with a small place on the property; with plans to build a house or use as a rental property

• We welcome my twin nieces into this world in November

• I said "Yes" to spending the rest of my life with K on November 16, 2013

• Ran my first 5K with my best friend Thanksgiving morning in 32 degree weather

• My health and fitness journey began in January (currently 24 pounds down)

• The Wedding Planning voyage began in February

• Vacationed to the Smokey Mountains with family and friends in March for Spring Break

• Started a new job/career in April

• Kaylee passed first grade in May, and is now on her way to second grade

• I finally made my Thirty before 30 Bucket List at the end of May

• I took on a 12 week fitness bootcamp in June

• I bought my very own first car with no help in June

• We celebrated Kaylee's 7th birthday in July at the skating rink - This Momma can still skate with the best of them! All of those years being on the speed skating team paid off 

It's safe to say that my 25th year was a great one with life changing moments, and a few accomplishments along the way. I have thoroughly enjoyed this past year of my life.

 

The biggest thing I'm looking forward to in this next year is getting to marry my main squeeze! I can't wait to walk down the aisle and become Mrs. Turner. I've waited 11 long years for that title.

 

Twenty-five was great, but twenty-six is going to be so much better!
