Dancing the Night Away for a Good Cause

Last night, Kaylee's dance company hosted an event to raise awareness for Autism. After all, the month of April is Autism Awareness month, and we couldn't have had a more perfect ending to it. All age groups, including the college dancers took part in this event, and danced the night away.

The Chair of CARD - Center for Autism and Related Disabilities made an appearance to speak on behalf of the Tallahassee center and all that it offers. After learning all that the center does to help individuals and their families; trainings, support groups, research and resources, family needs, etc. I was truly honored to have had our daughter take part in such a good cause, and helping to raise awareness for Autism.

I have to admit, I wasn't fully aware of the size of the autism spectrum, and how many are effected by this disability; in large part because I personally don't know of anyone Autistic. Thanks to this event, I'm fully aware of Autism, what it is, and those effected by it. I understand it now, and was really touched while sitting and listening to the stories spoken. Even though we aren't cognizant of anyone Autistic, we want to help raise awareness in any way that we can. K and I donated to the local foundation during last nights event, and will continue to contribute in any way that we can.

I'm happy to say the dance studio had a full house for Sunday's event; more people attended than there were chairs for! That's always a great sign. The studio had an abundant turn out for their first year hosting. The Director of Dance Fusion Studios has decided to continue this and make it a yearly event. Our family is ecstatic to take part in this, and watch this event grow in the years to come.
